Wife, Christi; daughter Kylee (born March 10, 2008).
Hobbies include golf. Didn’t start roping until 1998, when he met some friends who were involved with rodeo. He was riding horses for three-time world champion Allen Bach and was introduced to Tee Woolman.
Enjoys riding motorcycles when not roping. His parents, Richard and Gloria, own a heating and air conditioning company in Midland called Smith Co., and he has an older brother and sister.
He is the first in his family to be involved in rodeo. Rodeo idols are Clay O’Brien Cooper and Allen Bach.
