Speed Williams
8-time consecutive world champion team roper
A native of Florida, now living in DeLeon, Texas, Speed grew up in a roping family. His late father, Ken, was a world champion saddle bronc rider. The Williams trained rope horses and kids for many years in Jacksonville, FL. His mom, Bobbi Williams, still competes regularly to date.
Speed is one of the few to have made the NFR in both heading and heeling, but won eight consecutive world titles heading for Rich Skelton.
Married in 1997 to Jennifer Shurden, the couple have two children: a daughter, Hali Wren, 4; and a son Gabrielle Ken, 1.
