What's New at Fast Back? |
New Wax Process at Fast Back Ropes Benefits Ropers
Rising costs and the state of the economy have driven many people to search for the best value when purchasing ropes. At Fast Back, where ropes are known for durability, Al Benson has implemented a new waxing process that seems to make ropes last even longer.
“To keep happy customers, you have to provide them with the best quality and longest lasting product possible,” says Benson. “As our costs continue to go up, I continually work to develop and produce ropes that will give customers the best value for their money.”
In addition to improved durability, ropers’ feedback indicates that the ropes feel even better than before.
Another BFI Win for Fast Back Cowboys - June 2008
Granbury, TX – Congratulations Clay Tryan for his BFI victory and over $84,000 in cash and prizes. This is the fourth consecutive year a Fast Back team member has been in the winner’s circle at annual Bob Feist Invitational and Clay’s second BFI win. In 2005 Clay and Fast Back team mate, Patrick Smith, took home the honors and went on to win PRCA world championships that December.
Fast Back cowboy, Blaine Linaweaver, set the pace by winning the first go-round with a 6.15-second run. He and partner Richard Durham went on to place in three go-rounds, pocketing the team over $20,000. Another Fast Back cowboy, Patrick Smith, won the second round with partner Trevor Brazile and placed again in the fifth round resulting in Fast Back wins in every go-round.
In 2007 Fast Back cowboy, Steve Purcella, won the event with partner Casey Chamberlain. In 2006 the Fast Back duo of Chad Harper and Brandon Thone took home the BFI honors. Fast Back legend, Speed Williams has three BFI championships under his belt, won in 1998, 2001, and 2002, putting him in second place of all time BFI money earners.
Undoubtedly the most prestigious “jackpot” available to professional ropers, the BFI is held each year in Reno, Nevada in conjunction with the Reno rodeo. Bob Feist pioneered this event, growing it each year and paving the way for other high dollar events such as the George Strait Team Roping and the Wildfire Open to the World.
Congratulations and thank you to all the dedicated cowboys who help make Fast Back great. |

Pink Patron Success!
Fast Back Ropes donates over $5,000 to Susan G Komen for the Cure
GRANBURY, TX – For every sale of the “bubble gum pink” rope, the Pink Patron, Fast Back Ropes donates one dollar to the Susan G Komen for the Cure to benefit breast cancer research. This amplified the excitement of introducing this new rope on February 1st. The success of the Pink Patron has already enabled Fast Back to donate in excess of $5,000 to Susan G Komen for the Cure in the first quarter of 2008.
“It’s always gratifying when a new rope takes off because so much time and effort goes into the development,” says Al Benson, Fast Back Ropes General Manager, “Being able to share the success of the Pink Patron with such a great cause just makes it that much better.”
The Pink Patron is a poly blend four-strand that is smooth and forgiving. The poly fiber adds weight to enhance “tip feel” and reduce bounce, making this rope popular with ropers of all levels.
“I like the true and consistent feel of the Pink Patron. I can take it out of the box and know exactly how it will feel,” says Colter Todd, WNFR qualifier, “It’s so consistent that I can reach or run close without ever changing lays.”
The Pink Patron is available at Fast Back dealers. To locate the dealer nearest you, call toll free 800-479-1851 or visit fastbackropes.com.

Fast Back Ropes Launches the M-33 Head Rope - February, 2008
Granbury, TX – When Fast Back Ropes decided to market Speed Williams’ personal version of the Mach III, the name “M-33” was chosen to reflect the length of the rope. Fast Back will still offer the thirty-three foot head rope now known as the Mach III Plus.
The origin of the popular Mach III was the brainchild of Speed Williams and experienced rope maker and General Manager of Fast Back, Al Benson.
“Speed was very specific about what he wanted in a rope. He’s also very particular where his ropes are concerned, resulting in a longer development period for the Mach III than normal. The Mach III has remained a best seller at Fast Back since it became available,” says Benson.
Though happy with the rope, eventually Williams asked for modifications to be made on his ropes. An additional two feet, slightly smaller diameter and more body made the new version a great “reaching rope.” Soon other pros started asking for the same rope Speed was using. It became apparent there was a market for this special version of the Mach III.
Changing the name from M-33 to the Mach III Plus enforces the fact that this rope is indeed a Mach III with a few more features.
